On Wednesday April 24th, the Lady Wolves girls golf team traveled to Lake Hefner Golf Course (South) for the OSSAA West Regional tournament. After being postponed on Tuesday due to the extensive amount of rain received, the ladies took to the course looking to take one of the top 6 spots to advance to the State Tournament.
After seeing several of the top teams in the West complete their rounds, the Lady Wolves were looking to take one of the final 2 spots of the day. The final team score of 370 was just 6 strokes behind the final 6th spot taken by Deer Creek, falling short of their State Tournament ticket getting punched.
Ivy Harris shot her season best in the sloshy conditions, scoring an 85, followed by teammate Alina Prabhu's 89. Freshman Riley Jones shot a 97 and Karson Merrell shot a 99 to end her senior year before moving on and playing college golf at Southwestern Christian University (Bethany, OK) next year. Kendall Holland, also a senior, overcame a tough back-nine to shoot a 100.
After all of the teams came in, the Lady Wolves placed 8th out of the 14 teams that entered the tournament (Putnam City West and Putnam City Original only had 3 girls who competed as individuals). Harris, will fill one of the individual invitations given to the top 6 individuals (after the team scores) and will play at Earlywine Golf Course (Moore, OK) in the 2-day event next Wednesday and Thursday (May 1st and 2nd).
